Federal skilled trades program

 The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade. 

Federal Skilled Trades Program: Requirements

To qualify for the Federal Skilled Trades Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Skilled Work Experience:

• At least two years of full-time work experience (or the equivalent in part-time work) within the last five years.
• Experience must be in a job classified under TEER categories 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC).

Language Ability:

• Take approved language tests in English or French.
• Meet minimum scores in all four abilities: writing, reading, listening, and      speaking.

Education:

• If educated outside Canada, obtain an Educational Credential Assessment      (ECA) to validate foreign degrees, diplomas, or certificates as equivalent to Canadian ones.

Selection Factors:

• Score at least 67 points out of 100 based on age, education, work experience, job offer, adaptability, and language skills.

Settlement Funds:

• Show proof of sufficient funds to support yourself and your family after arriving in Canada.

Admissibility:

• Pass security and medical checks.
• No criminal or health issues that pose a risk to Canada.
